Abha and Sanjay are on a holiday with
their parents, Mohit and Ena Sen.
Mohit: Holiday in Kochi is a good plan,
Ena.
Abha: Yes, Mom. I love the sea and beaches.
Sanjay: Who has the camera? I want to show
photos of the Kochi fort and the palaces at school.
Ena: I have the camera. Here it is,
Sanjay. Today we visit Agatti Island. We are going there by a monorail train. Get
ready to click photos, Sanjay.
Abha: A monorail train! What is that?
Mohit: You can see it. Here we are!
Abha ( looks up at pillars): The pillars
are so high and hold only one rail.
Sanjay: Let us go up to the station. Look!
Is it a glass lift? Yes, it is.
Ena: Who is buying our tickets, Mohit? Is
there a ticket vending machine?
Mohit: Yes, there is. I am buying tickets
from the ticket vending machine.
Sanjay: Let me punch our names into the
machine, Father. (He punches) Here come the tickets out of the machine.
Abha: Is this the train coming? It is a
funny train. It sticks to the rail on both sides.
Mohit: That is why it is called a monorail
train.
Ena: Alright children, get ready. We must
enter when the glass doors of the train slide open.
The family steps into the monorail train and
look for seats.
Sanjay: I want a window seat.
Abha: Me too!
The monorail train starts moving.
Abha: Who are the other people, Father?
Mohit: They are passengers to Agatti
Island.
Sanjay: The sides and roof of the train are
of glass. Is this a big window?
Mohit: The whole train is a window. What a view!
Ena: Look! We are passing over the sea.
Can you see the waves below?
Abha: I can see a boat but no ships.
Sanjay: (with the camera) Click! Click!
Click!
Conductor: Hello! Can I see your tickets,
please?
Ena: Who has the tickets?
Sanjay: (Holds out the tickets.) Here they
are, Sir.
Conductor: Thank you.
Abha: Mom! Dad! I can see Agatti Island.
Is there a fort on it?
Ena: Yes, there is.
Sanjay: The train is slowing down.
Ena: Abha, put the bag on your shoulder.
Mohit: Sanjay, don’t forget your camera.
We must get off the train.
Abha: It has been such a lovely train
ride. I wish it goes on and on.
Sanjay: Why don’t you sit on the monorail
train and go back and forth the whole day?
