Tutu the tiger cub was angry. His Mama had scolded him. He went for a walk.
Kiki the crow saw Tutu go stomp, stomp, stomp down the path. She flew along, “Hi Friend! What is wrong?”
“Nothing,” growled Tutu.
Kiki sat on Tutu’s back. “Tell me, Tutu. Maybe I can help,”
“Go away,” Tutu shook his head. “You are only a silly crow,” said Tutu, rudely.
“I will not quarrel with you, Tutu. You are my friend. I know you are not happy,” Kiki said softly. “I will stay with you till you feel better.”
“I don’t care,” said Tutu. He wanted to quarrel with Kiki.
Kiki was quiet on Tutu’s back. Tutu snarled! Snarl! Snarl! Growl!
He waved his tail. Left! Right! Left! Right! But Kiki was quiet.
Tutu could not quarrel with Kiki because Kiki would not quarrel with him.
“Go away, Kiki!” Tutu waded into the pond. He ducked into the water. Kiki had to jump off. Caw! Caw! He flew to a tree and watched Tutu.
“Good, Tutu. Take a swim. It will cool you,” Kiki cawed.
Tutu swam round and round.
Then Kiki saw Mr Crocodile. He was in the pond. He had a long nose. He had very sharp teeth. “Snap! Snap!” went his teeth!
“Tutu, Tutu, come out! Be quick!” shouted Kiki, “Mr Crocodile will catch you,”
Tutu swam fast. Mr Crocodile must not catch him. Kiki flew above Mr Crocodile’s head. “Caw! Caw! You can never catch Tutu!”
Tutu swam hard. Splash! Splash! Splash! He reached the bank. He quickly climbed out. Mr Crocodile’s sharp teeth snapped loudly. Snap! Snap! Snap! But he could not catch Tutu.
Kiki did not quarrel with Tutu. He saved Tutu.
